DIY Vanilla Brown Sugar Body Scrub and Lip Scrub
I’m a very big fan of self-care.  These recipes make it fun and easy to pamper yourself a little bit.
My Vanilla Brown Sugar Body Scrub and Lip Scrub not only feel indulgent, they are super easy to make with ingredients you most likely have on hand.
They also cost fractions of what it would cost to buy them in the store.  These would make a great hostess gift, teacher gift, or girlfriend gift.
The beauty of a scrub is that it exfoliates and moisturizes at the same time.  Use it anytime you’re feeling dry, you want to relax, or you want to feel glowy.
There are endless variations to this recipe.  You could substitute regular cane sugar for the brown sugar.  You could use a fine sea salt.  Sugar is gentler than the sea salt so stick to sugar if you have sensitive skin.
You could substitute a different oil.  Some good ones to try are jojoba oil, grapeseed oil, sunflower oil or even olive oil, although that has a bit of a particular scent to it.  You could also add your favorite essential oil.
Let’s get to the recipes…..

Vanilla Brown Sugar Body Scrub

Author Rebecca LeVander

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 Cup sweet almond oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Mix all the ingredients together well. Store in a glass jar.

Recipe Notes

Scoop out a spoonful while you're in the shower and rub it all over your body, including feet, hands, arms, legs, and torso. You can let it sit for a couple of minutes then rinse it off. You will feel silky smooth.

Make sure to use caution and not use too much.  The oil can cause your shower floor to be a wee bit slippery.  Just squirt a few drops of your Dr. Bronner’s Castile Soap, that you no doubt use as a body wash and shave gel like I do, and wipe away.
Now for the lip scrub.
We are just coming into fall here in MN so the really dry weather hasn’t started yet.  But chapped lip season will be here soon enough.  I’ll be using this recipe all winter long.  It doesn’t take long around here for your lips to be chapped, dry and peeling.
This scrub helps remove the dead skin and moisturize your lips to keep them soft and juicy.

Vanilla Brown Sugar Lip Scrub

Author Rebecca LeVander

Ingredients

  • 1 Tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon coconut oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon sweet almond oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Mix all of the ingredients in a small bowl. Use as needed.
  2. Take a small amount out with finger and rub it vigorously over your lips. Wipe it off with a warm washcloth.

Recipe Notes

Keeping this in the fridge will prolong it's shelf life.
This is messy, so it's best to do it over the sink.
Put in an old lip gloss container.
I will also link to containers you can buy below.

Enjoy!
Pin this for later so you are prepared when gift-giving season comes….it is just around the corner!
You take care of everyone else, time to slow down and take care of yourself.
Happy Scrubbing!
With love + gratitude,
Red
